Home

Well, folks, I'm home. After a little over 7 months in Brasil living, studying, stressing out, crying, laughing, hiccupping, and the works, I have returned to the United States. I will admit, that it was hard in the airports to switch back to speaking English! In the plane I had hoped to sit beside a Brasilian on their way to the US so I could speak just a little bit more the language I have come to love. I ended up between two english-speakers, but they were on their way back to Washington after some sort of top-secret deal in Brasilia- the capital of Brasil. So I still had interesting conversations, not to mention a reading light that kept going on and off like a disco lamp during the night as I was trying to sleep. Flights are never without their excitement. I must admit that the first thing I did when I got the the Washington airport in between flights was to get a frapuccino that tasted like heaven. Except that I asked for a 'grande' in the portuguese accent of the word, instead of the americanized version. Oh well. That might take a while to get over. I'm still so excited about being home and seeing family and friends and telling everyone who will listen all about my travels. I may be wearing out the welcome for those conversations, but I'm sure I will always have someone who hasn't heard my stories before, so that will be a relief. I realize that my posts here have not been always up to date, and I do have so many more things to write about. I would hate to have gone all the way to Brasil and done so many cool things only to come back and not share them with the world, so what I will do is just post them here post-trip for everyone to check out as they please- no more bombarding with emails. :o) And if you want pictures, just email me. That being said, let me go dig around in my journals for some really cool stories, and we'll be back right after these short messages...
